WHAT IS trESS ?

The trESS network intends to organize training and set up networks on the European Co-ordination of Social Security Schemes in the 27 member states. It is a unique project funded by the EC DG EMPL and implemented by Ghent University in collaboration with independent high profile experts on European Social Security in all the member states.

The aim is to increase the knowledge base of the coordination regulations and to build strong networks rooted at national level encompassing public administrations, - including but not exclusively social security administrations - the social partners, NGO's, judges, lawyers, and independent experts confronted with the challenges and problems of implementation in all the 27 member states.

Of equal importance to the training is the reporting component :trESS aims also to identify and inform the EC on application problems and challenges at operational level in the member states. The 27 national experts will thoroughly research and report on the situation, trends and perspectives regarding social security for migrant workers (at national and community level).

REPORTING

Yearly reports aimed at transferring knowledge from the operational level to the European Commission. The reports include information on:
- problems and issues related to the application of the EC regulations in the 27 member states. (This information is based mainly on the issues raised by the participants at the national seminars).
- situation, trends and perspectives on social security for migrant workers at national and community level. (For this information, the national experts consult various relevant authorities and sources).

Every year, trESS publishes a European report on the major issues and problems of implementation and application of the EU Regulations.
