EQUAL TREATMENT

The principle of equal treatment is a central principle underlying the Regulation. Nationals of another Member State must be granted the same benefits and treatment as the country’s own nationals. They may not be treated less favourable than own nationals. The Member States have an obligation to ensure equal treatment for all Union citizens. The principle of equal treatment also applies to family members.
