SOCIAL SECURITY BENEFITS

Social security coordination covers social security benefits paid under the schemes covering the traditional social risks: sickness, maternity, invalidity, old-age, accidents and occupational diseases, death, unemployment and benefits for the family and survivors. The categorisation of the national benefits under these risks is primarily done by the national authorities. However, a benefit which is nationally considered as covering a certain risk may sometimes be categorised differently under the Regulation by the Court of Justice.
